About Dan W.
Key experience
Started as a student, graduated and decided to stick around!
I studied computer science, specialising in software engineering at university. During this I had the option to do a placement year where I could take a year out of my studies to gain work experience in a relative field, I decided to take this option and join eArcu as a member of the Creative Design team, during this time I was fully integrated as a member of the team and gained a lot of experience not just specific to my role but every role in the company. As my placement year ended, I was encouraged to return to university and complete my degree with the onlook of returning to eArcu after my studies. When that time came around, I got offered a role in the Products team as a junior developer, which I gladly took up. As the years have progressed I have gained significant experience in learning, growth and development whilst in the Products team.
Current position
Building functionality to aid multinational companies hire top talent.
Whilst working with our planning team and other developers at PageUp, I help plan and build new functionality that will help our clients efficiently hire top talent for their respective companies. On top of this, I also help maintain and uplift the product to ensure that it is always up to date with the latest design techniques and suitable for the use cases of today's challenging market.
Main motivation
Working with different technologies to achieve the best outcome.
Whilst building new features and maintaining the product, I will always use multiple technologies to achieve the desired result. Doing this helps me build a more diverse skillset which I can then utilise in future projects. These technologies are a mixture of server-side and client-side technologies.
Top advice
Ask lots of questions!
No one expects you to know everything when you start but a great way to try and get up to speed quickly is by asking questions if you aren't sure about something and don't spend too much time stuck on an issue as somebody else may have experienced the same issue previously.
Greatest achievement
CEO Award Nominee Quarter 1, FY2023
I was nominated for the CEO “Values” Award Nominations Quarter 1, FY23.
